Aahh..my little squirmy..who would have known that he will be born on 17 Jul 2013, during my routine gynae check-up?
The c-section wasn't planned.
He was already in position, head down, facing backwards. But then he wasn't moving much on Monday and Tuesday. His peak time was usually 7-8pm, but there was no sign of activity on those days. So I decided to mention this to my gynae. At first, she said everything was normal after the routine ultrasound. But there was a pause after checking the blood flow within the cord. Then she said ' Let's go to the Labour Room'.
I was nervous but trying not to show it. I could feel that actually I was not ready to deliver yet and was praying that we were protected from the worse that could happen.
At the Labour Room, after around 2 hours of waiting with the CTG device around my tummy, my gynae decided to induce me. My little squirmy's tracings was not showing a good pattern. Each time I had a contraction ( I didn't even realize I had a contraction), it dropped to around 70 bpm.
I thought I still had hope for a normal delivery after induction. It was then only realized how a contraction felt like. However, induction failed. I only opened 1.5 cm max and the progress was too slow.
So to the OT I went.
Turns out his cord was small and it almost wrapped itself around his neck.
My poor squirmy!
